7. Mentor & Apprentice

Whilst making the decision to introduce Per Degaton as a 14-year-old boy was a great one, it was even more brilliant to have him paired up with Vandal Savage in a Palpatine/Anakin mentor/apprentice relationship.

Not only did this lead to some great moments for Per, this was a move that also allowed us to see an added layer to Savage; that of a corrupt Shakespearean-esque dictator lurking in the shadows and waiting to make his power play.

From the opening moments, where Savage was positioned as a teacher to young Per, to the eventual ‘turn to the dark side’ of Per as he killed his father, Progeny saw Vandal Savage at his most eerily manipulative.
