8. What If Amy And Rory Brought Up River In America?
I must admit, I was waiting for that twist. River was so confident that her mother and father would end up together. We knew Amy and Rory would end up in New York. And where did Melody regenerate as a child? Amy and Rory would've been waiting a while to bring up Melody - "again", if you believe the offhand comment in 'Lets Kill Hitler' to be deadly serious - but it would have been the full circle to the story. In fact, it seems extremely un-Moffat not to have tied up that end; we know that Amy and Rory adopted in the end, but surely, a happy ending with the Ponds as a big family is just what the Doctor would've ordered? Maybe it's meant to go unsaid, as not to detract from the tears of that episode. Maybe I'm a sentimental old fool. And maybe Amy became a writer, to create stories for her daughter while she was living eternally in the greatest library the universe had ever know. But that's a "what if" for another day, right?
