2. A Silent Could Be In Your Room Right Now, Watching You Read This Article...

The only thing scarier than a deadly monster that you have to keep staring at in order to stay alive is a deadly monster that you forget as soon as you see it. In the Series six two-parter The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon, we were introduced to The Silence, a race of aliens with heads like crow skulls and an inexplicable predilection for wearing sharp, 60€™s style suits. By Doctor Who (and especially Steven Moffat) standards, that actually seems rather tame, until we realize that The Silence are actually capable of wiping your memory each and every time you look at them. This means that, hypothetically speaking, you could have just turned around a second ago, seen a Silent, screamed in horror and then turned away again, your memory of the event (and the wraith-like creature in the stylish suit) completely erased. According to Moffat, these ghostly aliens are literally everywhere, infiltrating every aspect of Human society and entering anybody€™s home at will. Within the series€™ narrative, they were actually running the world, advancing our technology and culture via post-hypnotic suggestions for their own dark purposes. In the time it has taken you to read this article, you may already have encountered several of the damn things, but you€™ve no way of knowing unless you keep a tally mark on your arm...(So that€™s why that is there! I just thought I€™d been hired as Mr. Zsasz€™s publicist).
