Matt Smith's last episode wasn't a particularly good one, but it did have a massively redeeming scene at the end, with the Doctor going all Gladiator on us. Having saved the world for the last time, he stands in the TARDIS in the middle of a regeneration, and at the edges of his dream-like dying vision, Amy Pond comes to say farewell. All that's missing is an Enya song. And, of course, we are treated to one last cracking speech. Smith takes off his bow tie, and says, "We all change, when you think about it. We're all different, all through our lives. And that's okay. That's good. You've got to keep moving. As long as you remember all the people that you used to be." Then, holding back tears, he says, "I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me." There's a light, magical twinkle as the bow tie drops to the ground, and then he's gone.
