Series 6. Episode 12. 24 September 2011. Odd things are happening at the Sanderson & Granger department store and The Doctor investigates. From previous experience, his old friend Craig Owens knows being by The Doctor's side is the safest place for he and his baby son Alfie to be, so he tags along. After witnessing several encounters between The Doctor and Craig out of context, store employee Val has the wrong end of the stick about them, leading to some hilarious exchanges. When The Doctor and Craig are teleported to a Cyberman spaceship via the store's lift, to divert Craig's attention from what's happened The Doctor announces that he loves him and implies that he's about to kiss him - "bit out of practice, but I've had some wonderful feedback". They eventually get back to the store and end up at Val's counter. As The Doctor instructs Craig to head out and ask questions, they have a 'lovers'-like exchange before The Doctor hugs Craig and sends him on his way. Val's already told Craig that "it's nice for baby to have two daddies who love each other" and observes all of this from her counter, so tells The Doctor, "I think you look ever so sweet, you and your partner and the baby". The Doctor's only comment: "Partner. Yes, I like it. Is it better than companion?".
