7. The Eleventh Hour

Series 5. Episode 1. 3 April 2010. The Eleventh Doctor's first scenes were as unpredictable as might be expected of a new Doctor, immediately post-regeneration, and the sequence where little Amelia Pond takes him into her kitchen is exceptionally funny. Thinking he might craving apples - because "I love apples" - he begs Amelia for one, but as soon as he bites into it he spits it onto the floor. "That's disgusting. What is that?", he asks, before announcing "Apple's rubbish, I hate apples". Declaring that yoghurt is now his favourite thing, he pours some into his mouth but spits it all over the floor as well. "I hate yoghurt. It's just stuff with bits in". "Why can't you give me any decent food?", The Doctor asks Amelia, "You're Scottish. Fry something". First she gives him bacon, which he tastes and pulls back out of his mouth and grimaces. "Bacon. That's bacon. Are you trying to poison me?". Then Amelia heats up some baked beans, but he spits them into the sink. "Beans are evil. Bad, bad beans". Poor little Amelia decides to give him something simple: "Bread and butter. Now you're talking", he tells her, before throwing the plate and the buttered bread out the door with a theatrical "and stay out!". At the merest suggestion of carrots The Doctor accuses Amy of being insane, before finally deciding: "I need fish fingers and custard". At last he's contented and, after quite ordeal, Amelia still thinks the whole thing is funny.
