3. John Simm Has Ideas On How He Might Play The Master Again
I say might, in reference to a news article that sprung up back in 2012, which suggested Simm wanted to play the Master again. That 'news' quickly got spun out of proportion, stating that he was making a return to Doctor Who. Simm was quick to refute that claim but it is still worth noting those comments he made which led to his proposed return. In a Q&A session a couple of years ago, Simm suggested that he wasn't totally happy with the manic performance Russell T Davies had him play. To quote him "the giggling lunatic started annoying myself after a while. Simm also suggested that if he were to play the Master again, he would take the Master to a very, very dark place. Given the latest rumours surrounding series eight, could we be seeing the Master Simm always wanted to play? Perhaps that might be enough to entice Simm back one more time before regenerating into a new nemesis for the Doctor? Given Moffat's timey, wimey writing skills, could we also see the new Master in another guise before discovering his true identity when a returning Simm regenerates into him (or her)?
