Doctor Who: All Doctors Ranked From Worst To Best

9. The Ninth Doctor - Christopher Eccleston

Best Episode: The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances - Are you my mummy is still scary! Worst Episode: Aliens Of London / World War Three - The Slitheen...urgh! The Doctor from the north, Christopher Eccleston was a marvel as the modern Doctor that helped relaunch Doctor Who for the 21st Century. For the first time the Doctor had a crew cut, a no-fills outfit and an accent. A lot of that no-nonsense look was attributed to his character; he was still suffering from the events of the Time War and - as we learned later - the genocide of his own people. It was Rose that helped bring him back from the brink and make him the hero we all know and loved. But he wasn't all doom and gloom either. He made have had the brashness of Jon Pertwee or Colin Baker but he was also fun. Part of his journey was rediscovering the joys of the universe through Rose's eyes and he was able to laugh and have fun at times. But he was also able to dip into cold aggression where necessary, none more so than when he faced the Daleks. Eccleston only stuck around for one series but his Doctor made a huge impression. He was sorely missed, particularly in the 50th. He made the Doctor his own and made him accessible to the masses once more.
