2. What If Matt Smith Really IS The Thirteenth Doctor?
So Steven Moffat has come out and said that Matt Smith is indeed the Thirteenth Doctor, supposedly being confirmed by the Christmas Special this year. I only say supposedly because what's "Rule 0" of Doctor Who? Steven Moffat lies in interviews. Still, the question has to be asked, is Matt Smith really the Thirteenth Doctor? If so, is this why the regeneration in The Eleventh Hour is particularly devastating to the TARDIS and manages to force it to repair? Keep in mind, it did survive a regeneration in The Parting of The Ways, so there's some sort of circumstance that's at play here that we don't know about. And finally, what type of "trouble" is 11/13 going to be in if he is, in fact, past his regeneration limit? Is the newly re-discovered Gallifrey going to sanction him? Is he going to go mad? Where's The Valeyard figure into all of this? There's just too many questions that stem from this proper question, so I'm going to venture a guess and say that Matt Smith isn't the Thirteenth Doctor. Moffat is too much of a continuity stickler not to remember that The Valeyard was coming up, and unless he's planning to answer all of these questions, I don't think he'd inspire them on purpose. He just might be trolling us yet again, dear readers.
