What is the Dark Lord of Skaro's finest hour?
Next to the likes of the Daleks and the Cybermen, Davros is arguably one of the greatest enemies in Doctor Who history and is every bit the arch-enemy to the Doctor as is the Master. If the Master acts as the dark mirror to the Doctor, Davros acts as the complete opposite, being every bit as clever as the Doctor, being the survivor of war, and having his own twisted set of companions in his own creations, the Daleks.
The Creator of the Daleks and Dark Lord of Skaro is indeed a marvellous creation, courtesy of real-life Dalek creator Terry Nation, but what are the 10 best stories to feature him? First, we take a look at both the honourable and dishonourable mentions...
Honourable Mention: Remembrance Of The Daleks (1988)
Remembrance of the Daleks is indeed a classic story in its own right, widely regarded as the highpoint of the Sylvester McCoy Era. After the wasted potential of Colin Baker's Era and McCoy's widely-panned first season (the worst season in Doctor Who history!), this was the story that arguably got Doctor Who back on track again, injecting the show with a renewed sense of purpose and confidence.
The action and effects are impressive, the writing was cleverly nuanced, both Dalek factions are glorious to behold (the Special Weapons Dalek still rocks!), and it firmly establishes the Seventh Doctor and Ace as an iconic Doctor/companion pairing.
With all these positives, why isn't it in the top 10? Well, that's because Davros is used very sparingly, not properly revealing himself until the last 10 minutes. He's essentially a glorified cameo in this story, but kudos to it being as great of a glorified cameo as it is! Who could forget about "unlimited rice pudding"?!
