No, 'cause this is what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna rescue her. I'm gonna rescue Rose Tyler from the heart of the Dalek Fleet. And then I'm gonna save the Earth. And then, just to finish off, I'm gonna wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky!
Another contender for Nine's best speech and yet another exchange with the Daleks. This is a thrilling speech to listen to and it really manages to get pulses racing. It builds into an out and out tirade against the Daleks and showcases the Ninth Doctor in out-and-out triumphant, defiant mode. It's a side fans have never seen before, but this is arguably the best occasion that Eccleston breaks it out. It also sets up the finale nicely with a challenge bigger than anything that the Doctor has faced up to this point. Furthermore, viewers get the other side of the Doctor/Dalek binary dynamic as they see that while the Doctor might be scared of the Daleks, they're also scared of him. Seeing creatures that have so far been portrayed as these nigh-invincible destroyers fearing the protagonist is not just intriguing, it gets the audience on the side of the main character. There's no doubt that the Doctor just might pull it off, and that it's going to be a wonderfully exciting story. And once they'd got the rights, the grand finale of the first series of the revived series was never going to end without a colossal showdown between the Doctor and the Daleks. This gets extra points for seguing into that.
