Well, the Ninth Doctor finally got to meet Charles Dickens in The Unquiet Dead and, in modern terms, what followed was basically him "fanboying" over one of his idols. In a similar fashion to the Tenth Doctor's later reaction to meeting Agatha Christie in Series 4's The Unicorn and the Wasp, the Ninth Doctor feels fortunate that he - albeit accidentally - managed to bump into Dickens and it was a moment for this Doctor to cherish. He even joined forces with Dickens to save the world from the terrifying Gelth proving that sometimes it is ok to meet your heroes.
