The big twist in Death in Heaven (spoiler alert) wasn't that Missy was making an army of Cybermen. It was that Missy was making an army of Cybermen to give to the Doctor. What's notable about this is that this is just about the last gift that the Doctor would possibly ever want (it is just about possible that he would prefer this over... say... an army of Daleks or a big box of Typhoid, but that's not a particularly high bar to set). Sure, the fact that the Doctor would never want an army of Cybermen is kind of the point of the story, and yes, the offer did help crystallize for him the answer to the question that he had been asking himself all season long (am I a good man?). The fact remains, though, that this is a terrible gift. The Master/Mistress/Missy made the classic gift giving error that so many have fallen prey to before him/her. While the temptation is there to give them something you like, it's far more thoughtful to give them a gift they'll actually enjoy. Also, it's OK to crush the last vestiges of humanity out of your boyfriend. What did you think of this? Did you learn any other dubious morals from Series 8 that should have been included?
