10 HUGE Revelations About Disney Doctor Who In Russell T Davies' New Memoir
6. Rogue Was Going To Return
The Fifteenth Doctor’s first season saw him have a fling with bounty hunter Rogue, in the Kate Herron and Briony Redman-penned story of the same name.
When Rogue was sent off to another dimension at the episode’s end, he left the Doctor with a single instruction: "Find me." But it was never clear whether the Doctor actually would.
Season 2 added fuel to the fire, with Rogue cropping up in both halves of the finale. And sure enough RTD was indeed talking to Herron and Redman about bringing back Rogue properly, in a story that he says was "forever getting postponed" – implying that we could've actually got it in Season 2.
In stark contrast to the lush world of Regency England, this would've been set in 1980s Blackpool, with video arcades at its centre. For those unaware, Blackpool is a seaside town in England and let's just say it's not exactly the most glamorous of locales!
Weirdly, this isn't the first unproduced Doctor Who sequel to be set in 1980s Blackpool – in the classic series, this town was previously chosen for Season 23's cancelled Toymaker rematch, The Nightmare Fair.
Maybe the lesson here is to keep the TARDIS away from Blackpool. Or maybe it's to do sequels while you still can, rather than waiting for a third season that might never happen. One of the two.
