Doctor Who: 10 Predictions For The 10th Anniversary Of NuWho

4. Two-Parters In Series 9

Steven Moffat has gone on record stating that he would only do a two-parter if the story warranted it, rather than fulfilling a obligation to include them in the show. In a way that makes a lot of sense - while there have been some thrilling two-parters during his tenure on the show, there have been a couple of rather dull ones too (The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood and The Almost People/The Rebel Flesh). But if Series 9 wants to differentiate from its immediate two series, a mix of single and multiple episode stories would be the perfect way to make the show fresh again. Series 9 could even pay tribute to some earlier Nu Who season template with the standard two two-parters and a multiple finale. Heck, even do a Utopia - Last Of The Timelords style event and have a three-parter in true Classic Who tradition. Of course it would need great writing and great stories but if Series 8 proved anything it's that new writers like Peter Harness and Jamie Mathieson, coupled with exciting directors like Rachel Talalay, Ben Wheatley and Paul Wilmshurst, could make Doctor Who fresh and exciting again. Celebrating Nu Who€™s 10th anniversary, developing the Twelfth Doctor and building on the success of a strong Series 8, multiple stories could add an epic quality of storytelling to 2015.
