10. Matt Smiths Doctor Is Believable As A 900-Year-Old Man In A Young Mans Body
If I was to sum how Matt Smiths portrayal of the Doctor it would be old man in a young mans body. Of course, thats something you could say for every doctor since Patrick Troughton. But while every doctor has been getting gradually younger in appearance the older they get, for me its the Eleventh Doctors portrayal that best nails that depth of age and wisdom that comes several centuries of experience. Its all in the eyes. Theres a depth to his expression that make you believe he has been travelling around space and time for a very long time. By the time he prepares for his impending death in Closing Time it feels like the Doctor is coming to the end of a very, very long journey, not just the two years we have seen Smith in this role. I watch him and can believe that hes nine hundred (or eleven hundred) years old. Which brings me on to my next point
