Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Why 3D Is The Wrong Idea

4. What Is There To Show?

We€™re not denying that seeing the fleshed out TARDIS interior or traveling through a multidimensional vortex wouldn€™t be awesome. Just imagine seeing that TARDIS interior leaping out at you€that incredibly plain, almost Spartan interior. Yeah€we can see this being amazing with any of the immediately prior sets. The elaborate multi-tiered orange steampunk set? The elaborate and wide coral set of Davies Doctors? Heck, we€™d give an arm and a leg just see the gorgeous McGann set brought out of decommission for the chance to explore that in 3D. But the current layout is way too claustrophobic to be rendered well in this effect. There just isn€™t a lot to look at. The spinning Time Lord decals are cool and all, but we€™d be spending most of the time looking at awkward close ups of the Doctor and Clara (though we could totally see some fans paying full admission for that alone). This won€™t be a problem if we don€™t spend too much time in the TARDIS, but then the show is going to need to splurge on location and visuals to make the 3D worth our time.
