Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Skip The 9th Doctor

7. Jackie Tyler

Series one introduced us to everyone€™s favourite €˜adoptive mother€™, Jackie Tyler. She was boisterous, protective, hilarious and at times a little obnoxious, but she always had the best intentions of her daughter at heart. One of my favourite qualities possessed by Mrs Tyler is that occasionally, she was just plain inappropriate. In one of dear old Jackie€™s finest moments, she boldly cracked on to the Doctor (from the episode €œRose€): Jackie: I'm in my dressing gown. The Doctor: Yes, you are. Jackie: There's a strange man in my bedroom. The Doctor: Yes, there is. Jackie: Anything could happen. The Doctor: ... No. Oooh! Poor Jackie! The introduction of Jackie€™s character in series one also led to some pearlers later on - including €œI€™m gonna be killed by a Christmas tree!€ (€œThe Christmas Invasion€) and while at the laundromat with Elton; €œHere we are, complete strangers, and I'm flashing you me€™ knickers!€ (€œLove and Monsters€). Oh, and who could forget the fact that Jackie is (if my memory serves correctly) the only woman - apart from the Doctor€™s own WIFE - to have ever slapped the Doctor square in the face and gotten away with it. What a woman!
