Doctor Who: 10 Things Fans Want From Series 9 (But Won't Get)

10. A Proper Missy Arc

The mystery of Missy may have been figured out online before the dramatic reveal, but that didn't mean its wrapping was any less enigmatic or, quite frankly, bats**t crazy. Michelle Gomez brought the Master back to Doctor Who in a frightfully manic and madcap way, delighting the audience with her unhinged performance. 

Although the series finale looked to the end of her, Gomez confirmed - in apple-eating fashion - that she would indeed be returning for series 9. That's obviously great news, but as it stands she has only been confirmed for the opening two-parter, The Magician's Apprentice / The Witch's Familiar. 

While there may be the risk of having too much of a good thing, it'd be great to have a proper arc for the character as we now know her secret, rather than her being a question waiting to be answered. Seeing how her and the Doctor interact across a series, and just how he deals with having his best-friend-slash-worst-enemy as a constant presence in his life would be fascinating to see.
