7. He BECAME The Sixth Doctor

Captain Jack has had many exploits in Doctor Who's expanded media, from his adventures with River Song, to battling giant maggots with Jo Jones. However, the one that's most worth mentioning is his encounter with the Sixth Doctor in Big Finish's audio anthology The Lives of Captain Jack Volume 2.

Written by James Goss, the story Piece of Mind sees Captain Jack forced to fill in for the Sixth Doctor while he recovers from a near-fatal encounter with an alien villain. John Barrowman is clearly having a ball cosplaying as the Doctor, and his voice even takes on a slight Sylvester McCoy-style twang! It's a hugely enjoyable audio play that gives us a much different, slightly cooler version of the Doctor. Yes, even in that coat.

Barrowman was even snapped in a series of photographs wearing the Sixth Doctor's coat to promote the box-set's release.

He may have been a judge on Any Dream Will Do, but wearing the Sixth Doctor's technicolour costume is the closest that Barrowman might get to playing Joseph!
