Doctor Who: 10 Times The Doctor Just Didn't Give A F***

4. "Everything Has Its Time, And Everything Dies"

If you're a villain, the last thing you want is to find someone who looks at you the way a Time War-traumatized Ninth Doctor looks at Lady Cassandra in The End of the World.

After 40 minutes of watching Cassandra be pompous and arrogant about the fact she’s the last human, there wasn't a single viewer at home who was too concerned as she got her just desserts and started to dry up. And no-one cared less than the Doctor himself.

It’s no surprise that Nine doesn’t look too favourably on someone who had planned to put the lives of everyone on Platform One at risk just so she could afford a couple of extra plastic surgeries, especially when he’s still clearly reeling from the loss of his entire species. But we see a real darkness in the Doctor here for the first time in the revival as he stands by and watches Cassandra explode, refusing to even attempt to help her.

"Everything has its time and everything dies." Talk about a dramatic mic drop. This was a Doctor who was so scarred, so battered by loss after loss after loss, and so weary, that he just felt numb, and didn't care about much of anything. That's no more evident than it was right here.
