10. The Battle Of Demon's Run

"Demons run when a good man goes to war..."

2011's A Good Man Goes to War features the Eleventh Doctor assembling an army of friends, enemies, and favours needing repaying. The mission: rescue companion Amy Pond from the clutches of the Kovarian Chapter - a religious group obsessed with silencing the Doctor.

The Doctor's army included the Silurian detective Madame Vastra and her sword-wielding wife Jenny, a Sontaran nurse called Strax, World War II fighter pilots, pirates, a platoon of Judoon, and a legion of Silurian Warriors.

The heroes swarmed Kovarian's military base, 'Demon's Run', after Rory Pond retrieved information about its whereabouts from a Cyber Fleet - a Cyber Fleet the Doctor destroyed in anger.

A battle between the sinister Headless Monks and the Doctor's friends ensued. This ended in tragedy for the heroes, who lost many in their ranks. In the chaos, Amy's baby was kidnapped again by the shadowy Madame Kovarian.

This battle was a devastating test for the Doctor and pushed him to the edge, making him genuinely angry and uncertain as to what he'd do next.
