Doctor Who: 10 Times The Doctor Went Too Far

3. The Interstellar Song Contest

After Kid seizes the broadcast room of the Interstellar Song Contest and jettison thousands of innocents into space, the Doctor is understandably a bit miffed – all the more because he believes that Belinda is among the (temporary) corpses floating about.

What’s more, Kid also plans to kill trillions of people watching at home, which might have been a sort of mercy to save us from the post-credits scene.

After going on a spacewalk, the Doctor immediately sets about regaining control, and does so pretty quickly. However, upon coming face to face with the Hellions, Fifteen is overcome with rage, essentially torturing Kid via some unwanted electro therapy.

It’s a scene that just keeps on going, and it’s a chilling departure from the bubbly Fifteen we’ve come to know and love – our first real confirmation that the darker shades of the Doctor are still in there.

Worse still, Kid, who admittedly is undeniably evil and needs to be stopped, is a victim of the system too, and rather than help him see a better way – as he did with the Barber in the previous episode – the Doctor chooses to hurt him, viciously.

Hardly his finest hour.
