Like it or not, even the new Doctor Who is getting on€”seven seasons across eight years, it€™s been around longer than Tom Baker was. Wannabe blockbuster swagger aside, the last 14 episodes have run through pretty familiar 2005-era scenarios. A bit of competition might be just the thing to get the BBC Wales team to step up their game. Think of Russell T. Davies€™ €œMidnight€€”clearly an attempt to keep up with €œBlink€, and one that paid off in spades. In that way, even a flop could invigorate the parent series. After all, that TV Movie inspired nearly a decade of audio dramas, novels, and comic strips! So call it heretical if you will€”but I€™ve always liked Doctor Who for its refreshing irreverence. By that logic, maybe such a seemingly wrong concept could be very right€”and I€™ve got a crackerjack idea where the Doctor and Babe Ruth battle man-eating baseballs €
