Theres something in the caves killing workers. Something reptilian. The Silurians have awoken from their million year slumber, and they want their planet back! Jon Pertwees Doctor is much more of an action hero than the two previous incarnations, making this an exciting and fun story, with a bit of a downer ending. The UNIT stories have such a different dynamic than previous eras, and this is a great example of the Doctors generally tenuous relationship with them, and the Brig in specific. One of Doctor Whos most memorable monsters, The Silurians have such an original look and back story which instantly made them a fan favorite. This serial is notable for the first appearance of the Silurians, as well as the Doctors antique auto, Bessie.
