7. The 3rd Doctor €“ Doctor Who And The Silurians

"Yes, well, I've got no time to talk to under secretaries -permanent or otherwise." €“ The Doctor This story sees The Doctor and Liz Shaw join Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce at the Wenley Moor nuclear research facility, where something strange is going on. There€™s something in the caves killing workers. Something reptilian. The Silurians have awoken from their million year slumber, and they want their planet back! Jon Pertwee€™s Doctor is much more of an action hero than the two previous incarnations, making this an exciting and fun story, with a bit of a downer ending. The UNIT stories have such a different dynamic than previous eras, and this is a great example of the Doctor€™s generally tenuous relationship with them, and the Brig in specific. One of Doctor Who€™s most memorable monsters, The Silurians have such an original look and back story which instantly made them a fan favorite. This serial is notable for the first appearance of the Silurians, as well as the Doctor€™s antique auto, Bessie.
