5. Doctor Who Food

When a TV show that has probably only featured anyone eating a handful of times in 50 years (not including Jelly Babies) manages to generate branded food, you know it€™s sold out. Fortunately there are only two instances of this that I am aware of: the first is Doctor Who Spaghetti shapes, which I can live with, as even I have memories of consuming vague representations of characters' heads in pasta form as they swim within a sea of orange tomato sauce. And secondly was Doctor Who Frubes. A Frube for those who don€™t know is yoghurt in a squeezable tube. How on earth did they manage to put a Doctor Who twist on a yoghurt in a tube? After all, it is just fruity viscous fluid? Can€™t shape it in any way? What on Earth did they change? Nothing! The Doctor Who Frubes were exactly the same as normal Frubes except it had a Dalek, David Tennant and a Weeping Angel on the box. They could have potentially coloured the yoghurt green and called it Dalek slime or something, but no, they went with €˜Sonic Strawberry€™ or €˜Strawberry€™ to give it its proper name. What€™s amazing is that these Frubes generated a 32% increase in sales - that said, Weetabix made a similar marketing ploy in the seventies, so what do I know?
