With the public knowing that David Tennant was leaving, Russell T Davies teased the audience with this Christmas Special that suggested David Morrissey was the next incarnation of the Time Lord. Morrissey says he is, acts as if he is, has a screwdriver, knowledge of the Cybermen and even a TARDIS - of sorts - hidden away. However, Morrissey is actually Jackson Lake, who has suffered a terrible trauma and been subjected to memory engrams of the Doctor held by the Doctor's silver nemesis. However, as Lake thinks like the Doctor and has his memories for a while, he can be squeezed onto the list, especially as he is so much fun. He gives us a energetic and bracing wannabe Time Lord. Even better, instead of a silly little box, this Doctor's TARDIS is a hot air balloon. Result.
