4. The Daleks Keep Getting Wiped Out... And Then Coming Back
When Doctor Who returned in 2005, it soon became clear that a lot had happened in the Doctors life since his last televised appearance in 1996. He talked about the Last Great Time War that resulted in the destruction of both the Daleks and the Time Lords but later in the first series, in an episode aptly titled Dalek, he learned that a single Dalek had survived the carnage just as the Doctor was the only Time Lord to survive. The last Dalek didnt survive the episode, though, and soon the Doctor was back to being the only survivor on either side ...until the events of Bad Wolf and The Parting of the Ways, that is, in which he learned that the Dalek Emperor himself had survived the Time War and was working to rebuild the Dalek Empire. But he, too, met his demise, and the Time War was finally finished, and the Daleks were (finally) no more. Except for the Cult of Skaro, which had conveniently hidden themselves inside a void ship. The number of times that the Daleks were completely, totally wiped out, no chance at all any of them could have escaped except a handful of them did, have become too numerous to mention in the modern series. It would be better for everyone if the writers just admitted already that the Daleks will never be 100% destroyed and if theyd quit making us think the Doctor has seen the last of them when they already have the next three Dalek episodes planned in their minds. "Exterminate!" indeed.
