Well, heres, dare I say, a shock. Yes, the Fifth Doctors only real encounter with the Cybermen, and one that ended with a surprise that still resonates today and granted immortality to Adrica, an otherwise mediocre companion. This really is just about one of the most perfect stories from either series. The Cybermen are a real threat, and the Doctors desperation to stop them, and save his friends, is really highlighted. As for the final scenesyoung Adric clutching his last memento of home while watching his death approachthey remain every bit as powerful now as they were back in the day. Overall the Cybermen are, as all villains, only as good as the writing. As weve seen here, its possible to use them well, and possible to fail horribly.
