Doctor Who: 5 Worst And 5 Best Dalek Stories

By Chris Swanson /

4. €œVictory of the Daleks€

I strongly, strongly suspect this one had its genesis when someone said, €œHey, let€™s have Spitfires in space!€ and someone else said, €œHey, let€™s have Power Ranger Daleks!€ One would have wished cooler heads could have prevailed. This story is just bad on many levels. The Spitfires in space, Bracewell saved by the power of humanity, the previously-mentioned Power Ranger Daleks (Go, go, Dalek Rangers!)€there€™s a bunch of things that, taken on their own, one could suspend disbelief over. But when all of them combine, not so much. Heck, there's even a new Dalek Supreme, which is like a regular Dalek with sour cream and tomatoes. It is worth noting the two bright spots. First is Nicholas Briggs doing a wonderful job channeling the Daleks as they were in €œThe Power of the Daleks€, and the second is Ian McNiece tearing it up as Churchhill. Also, thankfully, Mark Gatiss, who wrote this story, has gone on to write many more and better ones.
