Doctor Who: 7 Times The Doctor Was Betrayed By Their Companions

3. Rose Ignores The Doctor's Time-Travel Rules

One thing that's been lacking in the Chris Chibnall era is friction between the Doctor and her companions. Even in some tough situations, everyone seems to get along perfectly, even though it's far more interesting to watch when there's tension within the group.

This is something that we've seen in every single TARDIS team throughout NuWho, all the way back to the Series 1 pairing of Rose and the Ninth Doctor.

In the episode Father's Day, the two of them have a monumental falling out when Rose travels to the past and saves her father, Pete, from dying - thus altering a fixed event - which attracts a group of deadly creatures called Reapers.

The Doctor had previously warned her that it was a bad idea to visit Pete's death day, and he later scolds her for breaking the laws of time, considering it a huge betrayal that she would abuse the power of the TARDIS like this.

Everything turns out well in the end, of course: Pete dies all over again, and the Doctor forgives Rose for her mistake. But she very nearly destroyed the planet just to get what she wanted - so the Doctor was quite right to be angry.
