Doctor Who: 8 Possibilities For Series 8

By Matthew Hurd /

1. The End Of The Moffat Era

In a recent interview, Steven Moffat noted that showrunning for Doctor Who is a year-to-year thing, and that he was signed on for Series 8 and nothing further at this point. What happens at the end of production on Series 8 is anyone's guess. But it does seem likely that Moffat will pass on the showrunning baton to a new person at that time - if for no other reason than that he doesn't want to overstay his welcome. Interviews make it clear he's aware of the usual pattern for actors and showrunners in Who, and has at least some respect for it. It may be, then, that at the conclusion of Series 8, we find ourselves once again waiting for game-changing news about who Who's new shepherd will be - and then the speculation can start fresh once more. What do you think of all these possibilities for the future of Doctor Who? Agree? Disagree? Want to cast me into deep space for my radical speculation? Sound off in the comments below!
