Starting with the straightforward idea, similar to novel or Big Finish appearances, we could pick up with the Doctor and Donna midway through their Series 4 travels.

The easiest choice would be to pluck these two from their later travels in the series, so that they've gelled and got a bit of travelling under their belt, picking up from there. Could an adventure they've been on effect the story of the 60th? Will they be brought from Series 4 to the beginning of the 14th to meet up with the new Doctor? Time will tell.

Tennant and Tate's one series on the show is arguably the most highly regards of New Who. The two of them have irresistible chemistry and it is hoped this magic is recaptured again for their return. But with Russell at the helm, they couldn't be in safer hands.
