Doctor Who: 9 Big Questions After Face The Raven

4. Why Couldn't The Doctor See All The Aliens In The Secret Street?

Okay, this is probably a little nick pick in an otherwise excellent episode but the distortion field was designed to protect humans (and we assume aliens) from seeing who and what the aliens really were. It makes a lot of sense; a random human wandering into the street, eyes glued to his or her smartphone might be confused by the Harry Potter-style setting but seeing a whole host of aliens too would be incredibly unnerving. It also protects the aliens from identifying other former enemies in their midst, hences protecting the peace. But mayor Me made a point of saying that the telepathic field distorted your perception based on own experiences and what you expect to see. Of course, if there was anyone who would see the truth for what it is, it would be the Doctor. And yet it took Me forcing him to look really closely to see the Ood and Cyberman in his midst. Surely he should have seen them straight away?
