Yet another milestone in Doctor Who history that is going to be featured thanks to a tweet from a crew-member. €˜The Web Planet€™ is met with both derision and affection in equal measure by long term fans. It is possibly one of the shoddiest productions, only in contrast to its ambition. Yet it is a landmark story, featuring no humanoid characters other than its main cast, giant ants and moths and a lot of special effects requirements.

If it weren€™t for this story we wouldn€™t have the Doctor Who €˜Monster€™ as before that the series was never about the monsters. The Web Planet is always regarded with a certain nostalgia by both sides of the fan community, the same community that is eager for the Menoptera and Zarbi to return but realistically that isn€™t going to happen. This may be the closest we get and I€™ll take that. With the costumes in existence who knows, we may get a small cameo at some point, it is a co production with BBC Wales after all, they have a share. But most importantly the scenes in the drama will be produced with authenticity and even if they try to look cheap, I don€™t think they can make it look that cheap even if they tried, because they€™ll have spent so much money on it.
