Doctor Who: BBC Centenary Special Trailer Breakdown - 11 Things You Must See
11. Bowie Base One Space Suits
First off on this list, is the (now arguably overused?) return of the Bowie Base One spacesuits from the Waters of Mars.
The orange space suit, first made iconic by David Tennant's Tenth Doctor as the Time Lord Victorious, has now popped up in every Doctor's era since. The Eleventh Doctor sported the look in Series 7's Hide, whilst Twelfth, Clara and Courtney all had a copy for Kill the Moon. However, by the next time the TARDIS crew needed spacesuits for the Empress of Mars, they were replaced with sleeker grey suits instead.
In the teaser we see Dan sporting one whilst seemingly in a bit of bother, with Thirteen herself wearing one in a promo pic. It is also notable, that Dan's helmet in a promo is also damaged, possibly from this trailer trouble?
The only real issue I can take away from this has always been why does the Doctor have multiple of these when they obviously only wore one in the original episode, but that's only a nerd's nitpick.
The use of these suits does however show this special will be juggling multiple locations, rather than just staying earthbound, so for better or worst, that's at least exciting.
