2. Is The Doctor In Love With Yaz?
After all the Doctor’s past romances (Rose, Madame De
Pompadour, Joan Redfern, River Song) it’s odd that the suggestion that the
Doctor and Yaz could be in love with each other is such a talking point. The
Doctor has never been an asexual being, and that there could be a special bond
of love between her and Yaz has been hinted at from very early on.
Dan gets it, and his smile when he sees the two looking at each other confirms that the Doctor was indeed pretending to be naïve. She and Yaz have shared many adventures together off-screen (between The Timeless Children and Doctor Who Flux) and have had plenty of time to get close to each other.
The question is, will either of them declare their love to
the other before it’s too late? There’s just such little time left for them. In
all likelihood we will get a deathbed confession just before the Doctor
regenerates, and there’s a high chance she dies saving Yaz. If this happens,
then it doesn’t look like Yaz will be around to see the Doctor regenerate. At
least it looks as if she’ll be back in Sheffield, with her friends and family
there to support her.
