23. Dot And Bubble

Dot and Bubble is a weird one.

The way the twist is subtly hinted at and hidden right under your nose throughout the episode is incredibly smart. And having the Doctor experience racism like this in a futuristic rather than historical adventure was an unexpected and powerful move, resulting in one of Ncuti Gatwa's best moments as the Fifteenth Doctor.

It doesn't really feel like an epiosode of Doctor Who though and it's not one you'll be aching to rewatch. It's an episode you're almost meant to hate, and it does a good job of achieving that... but therein lies the problem.

On the plus side Callie Cooke is incredible as Lindy, and the moment she betrays Ricky September is absolutely heartbreaking.

It’s definitely a clever story, but perhaps a bit too clever for its own good.
