15. The Giggle

RTD definitely saved the most spectacular 60th anniversary special till last. That's alright then!

The first 40 minutes or so of The Giggle move along really nicely, and setting the story across two timezones, and in the Toymaker’s domain, gives it a truly epic feel.

Neil Patrick Harris absolutely kills it as the Toymaker, and there’s a proper sense of impending doom throughout. It’s probably the closest we got to RTD’s Marvel movie vision for the show actually working, and it’s infinitely more coherent than the finales that would follow.

Yeah bi-generation is still weird and the game of catch doesn't exactly feel like the grand climax the story deserved, but it's such a fun ride that these are easily overlooked.

The Spice Up Your Life sequence alone is one of the most entertaining bits of Who we've got in recent years.
