8. David Tennant Is Reprising The Role

Never in a million years did we imagine that David Tennant would reprise his role as the Doctor, yet here we are! The actor is set to return to the Whoniverse as the Fourteenth Doctor, making him the first star in the show's history to play more than one incarnation.

The surprise appearance occurred during Jodie Whittaker's final scene as the Thirteenth Doctor, where she regenerated into the familiar face of the beloved Tenth Doctor. Yet, not actually the Tenth Doctor. Following some fan confusion after the broadcast of The Power of the Doctor, the BBC clarified that Tennant is portraying an entirely new incarnation of the Time Lord. But why is the Doctor reusing this specific face?

A clue to keep an eye on is that, when Thirteen regenerated, her outfit changed completely, which is unusual for the modern era. Many fans believe that this is a hint to the reasoning behind Tennant's return, as this regeneration isn't what it appears to be.
