The one marked difference between the Russell T Davies and Steven Moffat eras are the chills and scares that the current showrunner has brought to the show. The Silence, Whispermen, the 'monster' on the bed in Listen, the slow reveal of skeletons into Cybermen in Dark Water and of course the chills of Under The Lake and Before The Flood. Moffat has definitely brought back the old adage of hiding behind the sofa that has been synonymous with Doctor Who. While it is perfectly reasonable that Chris Chibnall might add some chilling scares to his own series, there is likely to be a tonal shift between showrunners. In his final series, expect Moffat to deliver plenty of scares once again; whether its the return of old favourites like the Silence or new and terrifying monsters, you can expect kids to be watching through their fingers once more.
