One of the more frustrating things about the finale was that it focused more on Clara than the dramatic return of the Doctor's home planet. And after her excellent ending in Face The Raven it wasn't really necessary. There was so much rich story potential to be told in how Gallifrey found its way back hidden at the edge of the galaxy. The Twelfth Doctor is intrinsically tied to Gallifrey like no other Doctor before him. He was granted life by the Time Lords and helped remove the tyrant Rassilon from power. Rumours of the planet's return are sure to spread and the Doctor still has unfinished business with them. Moffat set up the Time Lords' return in the Day Of The Doctor and expect him to wrap up that story in his final series, leaving Chibnall with a clean slate. And who knows, perhaps a return of former companions Romana or Leela could be in the cards? It would certainly make for momentous television. Plus we still have that 'eyebrows' scene from Day Of The Doctor to complete.
