Doctor Who: War Of The Sontarans Review - 7 Ups & 5 Downs

5. UP - Humour Is Back!

Here’s another one we couldn’t fit into last week’s review: this series is really funny! Doctor Who is a show that should always embrace its own silliness and natural comedy - this is Saturday night family viewing after all.

Unfortunately, for the past two series have taken themselves a little too seriously, and the few jokes that have been attempted have very much struggled to land (do you remember cringing in unison at the Wi-Fi joke in Resolution? How far we’ve come), but lo and behold, it seems that Chibs can write comedy after all. The banter between characters has been strong, and in particular The Doctor, Karvanista and Dan had some great lines this time around. As dumb as it was, Dan’s tempura confusion got a good chuckle out of us.

Yet another part of the show that felt like it was missing has now made a triumphant return. No need to wait for RTD, the show is smashing it out of the park right now already.
