The Companion: Miss Wright. Sensible. Unflappable. She could save the world using nothing but her cardigan and still find time for a nice cup of tea, all without a single hair of her magnificent bouffant falling out of place. Barbara holds the distinct honor of being the first significant character to ever speak in the show. Ever since 1965 we've all pretty much assumed that she and Ian got married after they left the TARDIS, or at the very least shacked up. Opinions vary as to whether or not that was already going on before they left the Doctor, although large chunks of The Romans seem to indicate that it was. Notable Achievement: Outside of being the first speaking role on the show, Barbara also holds the record for companion who looked best in Capris pants. (Runners up include Nyssa and Captain Jack.) What Liking Her Best Says About You: You are old school as old school gets. You have, on more than one occasion, made the argument that Barbara was originally the main character of the show and the Doctor was her companion. You like the new series well enough, but your heart will always belong to the black and white years.
