Doctor Who: Who's The Best Companion? (Classic Edition)

The Sixth Doctor€

The Best Companion: Peri Brown Another confession, which may upset fans. I don€™t like Peri (though she€™s a darn sight better than her replacement). 1) Her €˜American€™ accent is awful. And 2) she whines€a lot. It€™s also to do with her paring with the Sixth Doctor €“ she was better with the Fifth even though they barely shared any screen time together. Still she was pretty and had some good moments when they finally matured the relationship with the Sixth. The events of Trial Of A Timelord are the best Peri had. She seems to connect with the Doctor for the first time when solving the mystery of a future Earth in The Mysterious Planet. Though that goes a bit down hill with her final adventure Mindwarp. Depending on which ending you take, Peri has either one of the best endings or one of the worst endings to a companion€™s story ever. Either her she is captured, strapped to a bed, her head is shaved and then killed to become the host for the enemy Kiv. Or she randomly falls in love with Brian Blessed and lives happily ever after. I know I prefer the former€ The Runner Up: Mel Bush? I guess I don€™t have any other choice when it comes to the Sixth Doctor. What can I say that€™s good about the hyperactive, carrot-juice drinking, super-permed red head that joined the Sixth Doctor in the latter half of the Trial Of A Timelord? I liked the fact that she was just there. With the timey-wimey back and forth through the Sixth Doctor€™s history it was refreshing to see a post Peri companions suddenly on the Tardis. That€™s not to say that€™s anything to do with Mel. That€™s just her story. A one-eyed Poodle from Basingstoke would have been just as sufficient. Oh, Mel could scream. That€™s something I guess. Made a brilliant end moment of episode 1 of Terror of the Vervoids.
