Ellie Kemper
Kemper feels like she's constantly overlooked for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, both in her own show (Burgess gives the flashier performance) and in this category, and her role deserves something. She's the sugary sweet centre of the show, and it wouldn't work without her. She's infectious to watch, sells every ounce of the oddball nature and tragedy of the character, and hits every required emotional beat too.
Who Will Win
Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Obviously. (Though if the voters do finally decide they want to mix it up, Ellis-Ross - who won the Golden Globe - is a good shout).
