Thanks to the 45th President of the United States, SNL writers were given a wealth of material to work with in their 42nd season. But it's to their credit that they mostly nailed-it, with some pitch perfect political sketches, extremely memorable guest stars, and David S. Pumpkins. Not everything about Season 42 worked, but it nonetheless felt like a really momentous one in the show's history.

The Emmys absolutely love SNL, giving it 50 awards over the course of its lengthy run, and with the show coming off the back of one of its most watched and talked about seasons in years there's no reason to suspect that's going to change.
