Fake Doctors, Real Friends: 10 Things We Learned About Scrubs From Episode One

10. Zach Braff Was Still Waiting Tables When He Got The Part

Back when Scrubs was still in pre-production, the majority of the main cast had at least some big roles under their belts. Donald Faison had Clueless, Sarah Chalke had Rosanne, and John C. McGinley had a long list of impressive roles on his CV.

Zach Braff however was a complete unknown. He had been a part of a couple of independent movies that had made it into Hollywood cinemas, but was still making his living waiting tables in a French-Vietnamese restaurant. Even then people would go to see his movie, then go to the restaurant for dessert and be served by the actor they'd just seen.

When he received the good news that he would soon be portraying Dr. John Dorian on Scrubs, he called his manager to quit. Despite being so supportive she still insisted that he work his shift that night. Really, it could have been a lot worse than a one-night notice period for Braff, so he did his duty - not before getting completely hammered and having some fun with the guests, however.

According to Donald Faison, when Zach Braff hits the booze, he hits it hard.
