20. The One Where Ross Finds Out (S2E7)
The Episode
Rachel goes on a date, gets drunk, and calls Ross to confess her feelings. Monica gets a new 'job' as a personal trainer to Chandler. The guy Phoebe's seeing won't sleep with her.
Why It's Great
It's an episode that expertly blends humour with emotion, nicely progressing the series' key relationship while offering up plenty of laughs.
Ross' name is in the title, but it's Rachel who is the star. Jennifer Aniston is note-perfect as drunk Rach, especially her delivery as she tosses her phone in the ice bucket, and there's later some great physical comedy as she attempts to stop Ross listening to her message.
The rest of the episode focuses more on the humour, with Chandler and Monica and Joey and Phoebe getting to display the chemistry each pair has, and offering some great lines and moments between them.
It all climaxes at Central Perk, and the moment fans had been waiting for: Ross and Rachel's first kiss.
