Game Of Thrones: 10 Best Episodes (According To IMDb)
10. Blackwater - 9.7
After Ned Stark lost his head in season one, 'Blackwater' continued in making the ninth episode of the season the biggest and best. All of season two built up to the battle on the waters of King's Landing, and in no way did it disappoint.
Stannis' attack on the capital of Westeros, and subsequent defeat, signaled the beginning of the end of the War of the Five Kings. Robert's brother retreated after facing a wall of wildfire, as Tywin Lannister returned to strengthen his grandson's grip on the Iron Throne.
This episode furthered the stories of so many characters in just the battle alone. The Tyrells joined Joffrey's cause, the Hound finally abandoned his King and white cloak, and Cersei tried to kill, not only her brother, but her son too, both for very different reasons.
The outstanding character from this episode is without a doubt Tyrion. Before being slashed across the face during the heat of battle, the Halfman led his men into the fire and the fighting when Sandor Clegane was too scared, and demonstrated once again that he was one of the few characters that would not put up with Joffrey's sh*t. Peter Dinklage's performance as Tywin's son in 'Blackwater' was so great that it earned him one of his many Emmy nominations.
